story:

After the death of her ailing mother in a fire, young teenager Anna tries to commit suicide and is sent to a mental institution for treatment. Ten months later, Anna still can’t remember what happened the night her mother died. However, her psychopath Dr. Silberling discharged him saying that he had resolved his issues. Her father and successful writer, Steven, brings her back home to a secluded mansion near the waterfront. Anna learns that her mother’s former nurse, Rachel Summers, is now her stepmother.

Anna meets her beloved sister Alex, who is swimming in the ocean. She learns that Steven has not delivered the letters and CDs sent to her by Alex. As time passes, Anna becomes haunted by ghosts and she believes that Rachel killed her mother. Alex and Anna decide to look for evidence to prove that Rachel is the murderer and Anna learns the truth about the fire in the boat house.

There seems to be a lot of people judging this film by the trailer alone, but I was lucky enough to see an advance screening today, and I have to say the film was not what I expected. Sure, there are some obvious plot points in the trailer, but overall, the movie was actually quite good. Full of suspense, creepy at the right time, with a flavor you don’t see in most movies.

I’m not going to say much about it, but I’ll have my say for it that I thought it was really well done. It’s not perfect, but it certainly does well for itself. Don’t judge a book by its cover, or a movie by its trailer.
