Story Line:

In 1925, the Duke of York (Colin Firth) is a stammer and has trouble speaking to the public. His wife, Elizabeth (Helena Bonham Carter), seeks treatment from speech therapist Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush) who follows unconventional methods and relationships, and Bertie skips treatment on the first day. However, after listening to the session recorded by Lionel, Bertie returns for treatment. In the mid-1930s, the Duke of York was forced to assume the throne as King George VI of the United Kingdom due to the abdication of his older brother, King Edward VIII (Guy Pearce). Soon after, the government is in crisis and Britain declares war with Germany. King George VI needs to deliver a speech to his compatriots, and his friend Lionel helps him using an unconventional technique.
